All events will be unique, but in general a one-hour party will go as follows:
- Your performer will arrive 5-10 minutes early so you can lead them into the event space for their Grand Entrance. Be sure you have your cameras ready- those first moments of the guests seeing the character are often the most magical!
- Storytime and Songs, where the character will highlight their most popular adventures and music from their story
- Royal Training or other Games, where guests will be led through lessons on how to be a princess, trivia on the character's story, or other activities- some events may include several things, and sometimes the kids just want to sit and chat. Both are okay! Our performers let the guests set the tone and will follow their lead.
- Photo Opportunities: posed photos with everyone at the event for memories that last a lifetime.
- Happy Birthday/Cake Cutting: the character will lead everyone in happy birthday as the birthday royalty blows out candles. Once all the guests have cake, it makes it easy for the character to slip away without much fuss- the kids are usually to excited by their dessert to notice!
- Please walk the performer out to their car if possible to review the event and ask any last questions. Don't forget to tip and leave a review on Facebook!
Darling Lane does not have a venue- we come to you! We've been to people's houses, neighborhood clubhouses, parks, pools, libraries, bounce venues, cat cafes, and paint your own pottery locations.
Please note that some extra guidelines do come with outdoor events: we do not perform in any sort of precipitous weather or outside the range of 50-80 degrees F. It's highly recommended to have a back up venue for outdoor events.
YES! Our actors work extremely hard to make sure every event is spectacularly magical, and as a small business we cannot offset all costs that come with princessing- makeup, shoes, undergarments, styling, etc. It takes a lot of work to look this good! Tips show you appreciate the time and dedication that goes into executing such a unique role week after week.
If you're going off of the standard 20% tip for service workers, for a 60-minute party you should tip about $40. Generally performers are tipped between $40-$80, most of which usually goes back into the job to ensure they can look and feel their best at every event.
